The KHSAA pushed the season back a week.

It was still 90-plus at 7:30, when most of our games kicked off.

The weather conditions. Playing football with 20 pounds of armor in 80 degree weather can quickly become a dangerous situaion.

People have been starting their football seasons in the South in 90-degree heat for more than 100 years.

After practicing for the whole month of August in two-a-days.

Nobody dies from heatstroke anymore because a) coaches are well-aware of keeping players hydrated and recognizing the symptoms of a heat injury, and b) if somebody did die, the school district would be sued out of existence.

Sadly, one or two people do die a year, but usually it's because of an undiagnosed heart condition.
