BCS weenies tell Congress the obvious

    First of all, I hate the BCS more than the next guy and have long advocated a 16-team playoff, but there is no way on earth this is any business of Congress or the government.

    Second, at least in the steroids issue there was the fact that people were actually breaking laws and it was condoned by large, high-profile organizations with considerable influence among kids. Not only that, but the spotlight shined on baseball by Congress and the pressure that came from that pretty much forced baseball to actually acknowledge the existence of steroids and create a real policy with real penalties to deal with the issue. Not that it wasn't grandstanding to a large degree, but didn't the steroid hearings actually accomplish something?
