Marquette was down at home at half to St. John's tonight.

    More excuse making and bullshit.

"The figure is down 14.3% from a 16.1 overnight for last year's Auburn-Oregon matchup, ESPN's highest-rated telecast ever."

More importantly last year's game did a better number than three other games before it - ALL ON BROADCAST TV - including the previous low - Nebraska-Miami - which did a 14.3

But, but, but, but a few of the SEC fanbois around here claim that if it is on cable it is automatically going to be lower than on network TV......

Again, stop talking out of your ass.

By your theory the two lowest rated BCS national title games ever should be this year and last, but that's not the case, not even close, as there are at least three in the past ten years that did worse numbers than last year even though last year's was, gasp, on cable....

Oh wait - I forgot - the fact that last year's ESPN broadcast did better than at least three network broadcasts, well, THAT'S DIFFERENT!!!!

zag, if this is what you're pinning your argument on for changing the BCS, shouldn't they just come up with a way to get some rotation of USC, Notre Dame and Rutgers (for the NY market) to play for the championship every year? Unless they can send Tebow back to college, that is.

Well there are plenty of reasons to change the BCS - this - the fact that ESPN picks the matchup or at least heavily infulences it and shoves it down our throats and causes us to turn it off - is only one of them.

Very few care about Rutgers in the NY market.
