Is the SEC better than the Big 10, yep you betcha. Have they dominated the Big 10 (outside of that terrible Ohio State team)? Nope. Actually, it's been a pretty competitive series, both in the regular season matchups (which usually take place in SEC territory) and the bowl matchups (which also usually take place in SEC territory).

I don't feel like looking up SEC vs. Big 12 or SEC vs. Pac 10 or SEC vs. Sun Belt.

Conference vs. conference is misleading because the top teams rarely play each other during the regular season. You may get an occasional Alabama-Michigan matchup, but most of the time it's a top team from one division playing a mediocre to lower level team from the other conference.

If you want to match them up like they do in hoops, then it might mean something, but that will never happen in a million years.

The SEC is better than the Big Ten, I don't think anybody would dispute that, but it's not because Missouri beat Indiana this season.

Knew that was coming. SEC is dominant! Check the records! Oh wait, don't check the head-to-head records, those are misleading.

Match up the No. 1 teams and the No. 2 teams and so on and it would mean something.

The only instance of a Big Ten Conference team beating a top-tier Southeastern Conference team I can think of is Ohio State topping Arkansas (with Terrelle Pryor and friends playing even though they clearly shouldn't have been).

Just noticing that beginning in 2007, it's 15-8 for the SEC, and in the past four seasons (including this one so far), it's 11-5.

    That's pretty dominant.

The only flaw with that logic is that one of the big arguments for the SEC's superiority is its being so strong top-to-bottom. If it's a wash (or something close to it ... I don't know if I'd consider 17-13 a wash) then that would call into question at least a bit of the default deference that's granted.

The SEC has been dominant in 2010s. Won't deny that. He asked to go back eight years, so I did. In the last eight years, it's been closer than people think.

And I know it's a copout, but 75% of those SEC-Big 10 matchups take place in SEC states.

It's a nothing argument to be quite honest because none of us know what Alabama-Ohio State 2013 would look like in Tuscaloosa, Columbus and a neutral site. None of us know what Wisconsin-Mizzou 2013 would look like in Columbia, Madison and a neutral site.

My whole point is that the SEC's dominance is by three teams -- LSU, Alabama and Florida. When Ohio State and Michigan were both very good, that didn't mean the entire Big 10 was good. It just meant that those two Big 10 teams were pretty good.

I'm a Michigan fan. I watched a very average Michigan team play with and lead for most of the game a South Carolina team that lost only two games and started this season in the Top 5 last year. If the SEC is so dominant, South Carolina shouldn't have needed a Jadaveon Clowney heat-seeking missile of a tackle to beat a very average 8-5 Michigan team.

The past eight seasons is from 2006-2013. You went back 10, from before the title streak even began.

Ahh, conveniently leave out that 3-6 record against the Big 10. That's how it works.

How about this? What's the SEC's record in cold-weather games in Big 10 stadiums. Numbers never lie, I guess, especially when you just pick and choose the numbers.

But you're right. SEC rules. 8-team playoff should be top 7 SEC teams and the worst team in the NFL. I think we can all agree on that.

    Carry on.

Not if Chad Henne starts. He's a Big 10 quarterback. We all know Big 10 players aren't as good as SEC players.
