That would be three great additions.

Nebraska in the Big 10 would seem very strange. For Pitt, UConn and Notre Dame, it seems like a very good fit.

Buh-bye Big East if those three are accepted.

And they travel together. State on Thursday, the U on Saturday.

Why take UConn and not WVU?

WVU is closer, much better at football and pretty strong at hoops.

Plus, you get the WVU/Pitt/PSU/OSU rivalries.

Because the Big Ten is never going to load Michigan, OSU, PSU and MSU on one side of a conference. Whether it is right or wrong, whether the teams are good in 10 years or not it wont happen. It would look terrible on paper, and that is enough.

UCONN isn't in the AAU. Isn't that a main factor still?

I thought the B10 was still upset over the last time the conference tried to lure Notre Dame to join? No?

It would be funny to see the reaction of UConn after the fiasco when BC and Miami left the conference. (The AG filed a lawsuit and such)

They are. As Starman put it, the Big Ten was left holding their dicks. I've seen it numerous places that the Big 10 wouldn't offer ND. ND would have to come to them.

UConn is a better market, which is what this is all about. This whole thing is about positioning on the cable dial (Big Ten Network) and dollar signs (championship game) ... nothing more.

Competitive and geographic balance? They don't give two shits.

Well, more dollar signs would come from competitive and geographic balance. Save on travel, especially in non-revenue sports. Competitive balance could help keep rivalries

ex: UM/OSU, UM/MSU, PSU/IOWA, etc. IMO, PSU/IOWA is the second biggest rivalry.

What I don't understand though, is why UCONN/ND/PITT would be offered.

Think about it.... want to crush the BIG 12 and send them scrambling to raid Arkansas from the SEC? Take Missouri. Want to get the national market and expand the television footprint grab Notre Dame, want to get the New York market, take Uconn...

What does Pitt bring? Not that I would mind having them at all in the Big Ten... if Pitt/Missouri/ND would be dominant, but Missouri/ND and just about any other team would make more money.

So if that is all this is really about, money, forget about Pitt.

I think all of the six BCS conferences should have 14-16 teams

    Pac-10 should add:
    Colorado
    Colorado State
    Utah
    BYU

    SEC should add
    Georgia Tech
    Miami
    Florida State
    Louisville
    Clemson

    Big 12 should add
    TCU
    Boise State
    Arkansas

    Big 10 should add
    Pitt
    UConn
    Notre Dame

Then the ACC and Big East can fight over who is left.
