I have this spring discovered the glory that is mustard-based Carolina gold barbecue sauce.

What sauces, brands, home recipes do people here enjoy/recommend?

Joe's. Their original sauce is great, but the Cowtown variety is the best in the world.

Arthur Bryant's Hot N Spicy. Another instance where the original is really, really good. But if you want something a little different from the traditional KC sauce with a little more kick, this is it.

Everything about Roy's BBQ in Hutchinson, KS., is amazing, including the sauces. But they don't sell anything online.

Hell, man. I think Kraft puts out great ones.

I don't "measure things". So, can't really share recipes.
But the basic components of my BBQ sauce are:
    • Ketchup
    • Mustard
    • Apple cider vinegar
    • Lemon juice
    • Brown sugar
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Chopped garlic
    • Onion powder
    • Paprika
    • Ground ginger (secret to my success)
Basically combine stuff, and then adjust until it smells/looks/tastes right.
Adding bourbon or dr pepper to it works well, too.

Best one I've had recently was a Bourbon-based sauce from Wegmans.
