It's not enough anymore to pound beats or dump stats; our paper is aggressively pursuing enterprise to connect with readers across many platforms. We need an innovative sports editor who understands community journalism, but also can work with other editors to produce excellent, unique content. Daily newspaper experience preferred; also a plus are previous management experience and demonstrated ability on Web-based publishing tools. We are a 31,000 daily / 42,000 Sunday, in a waterfront community just an hour north of the metro Detroit area and an hour south of Michigan's great outdoors. We offer competitive pay and benefits, and a fun, collaborative work environment. If you have great ideas, they'll make it in our paper. Send a cover letter, resume and work samples to John Hiner, Editor, The Bay City Times, 311 Fifth St., Bay City, MI 48708. Electronic applications accepted via jhiner@bc- times.com.

Word is the current SE is leaving or has left to be SE at the Flint Journal, another Booth paper. (Flint just had some major buyouts and newsroom restructuring.) This should be a good gig for somebody. Whoever gets it will have a chance to make his/her mark on a section that could use a little work.
