    Louisiana Gannett consolidating layout and copy editing for its five papers. Headquarters: Monroe. I will let those closer to the situation fill in the gaps of my thin report.

  3. The Advocate is apparently contesting unemployment filings by those it laid off. What's unclear is whether they're fighting the Unemployment Insurance process entirely or the definition of the starting date of separation. Two affected people with master's degrees read the notification and can't figure it out because it's so convoluted. One theory is the paper fights all unemployment claims as a general but unwritten policy.

    What's clear, as I know from experience, is that the paper, much like the Hunter family, B.A. and the rest of the coaches, is run much like the North Dallas Bulls.
