I don't think Stout does a decade edition, but Deadspin did.

2000: "Bottom of the Ninth" by Charles P. Pierce
2001: "Inside Baseball" by Joshua Prager
2002: "Higher Education" by Gary Smith
    2004: "Lifelike" by Susan Orlean
2005: "Sportsmen of the Year" by Tom Verducci
2007: "Let Us Now Raze Famous Men" by Jeff MacGregor
2007: "The Old Ba' Game" by Eli Saslow
2008: "Death in the Baseball Family" by S.L. Price
2008: "23 Reasons a Profile of Pete Carroll Does Not Appear in this Space" by J.R. Moehringer
2008: "The Legend of Bo" by Joe Posnanski

    What else should be included?

Love JoePoz to death, but I don't think that Bo story was his best tale of the decade. Perhaps it was his best effort in 2008. Can't be sure of that, though.

What else should be included? How about Plaschke's "Her Blue Heaven?"

Still, one of the two sports stories that made me cry. Fantastic grab.

The list may be chronological, but I'd put this story at the top no matter how it's sorted.

"Her Blue Heaven" gets my vote. (Had to Google "Resurrecting the Champ" to determine it's from 1997. Couldn't remember for sure.)

The title of the Sarah Morris story is actually "Her Blue Haven."

Well, shit. It still made me cry.
I was thinking about the list and 2008. I'd hate to be the guy who'd have to pick between the Price and Moehringer stories if I could only have one and not both.
Those two, plus MacGregor's piece, are on the short list for sports story of the decade.

Don't have time for it now, but I'll throw together my picks before the New Year.

Damn you. I just cried again.

Just as an update, Plaschke got her that "r".

You can follow her on twitter at twitter.com/sdmvision27 and this is her site http://dodgerplace.biz./
