The original Polo Grounds was a polo field, but it was also eventually used for other sports, including baseball. The name was carried on by the Giants for their subsequent parks; the famous stadium was built by the team from the ruins of its former stadium (on the same site) which had burned down.

All told, there were four Polo Grounds - the original field, two adjoining fields in Coogan's Hollow in Harlem, and the final stadium which was on the sites of both the second and third fields.

Which, of course, is why I put "Baseball's" in the thread title.
