So the Sox and Mets are playing. For a fleeting instant I thought it was 1986.

Doesn't it seem strange that 20 years have passed by so quickly?

Edit: Sox up 8-2 in the 6th. Vote Quimby.

They did it to you again, Zeke. Tigers 4, Astros 0 (major league leading 10th shutout).

Top of seventh, Astros get man to third with no outs. Robertson gets a strikeout, infield popout and a ground out to get out of the inning.

Bottom of the seventh, Tigers get two men on with a couple of walks to chase Clemens. Craig Monroe hits one off the fence for a double. Astros SS throws into right field, allowing the second run to score and Monroe to third. Ensberg then commits another error on a bad bounce grounder for the third run to score.

Since June 2, Tigers starters' ERA is 2.46.

Well, someone was boasting that the Reds were about to make a move by playing the Royals.

Royals 9, Reds 8. Cincy blows a four-run lead, then gives up a two-run bomb to Stairs with two outs in the ninth, breaking a 7-7 tie.

Kansas City is 8-2 in its last 10 games. All against the NL Central. If Kansas City played in that division, it would win at least 70 games.

For those of you from LA now having to do an introductory feature on Mark Hendrickson, there is a terrific photo, dating to his brief NBA career, of Hendrickson getting posterized by a dunking Michael Jordan. It's almost worth a short story just to run the pic, which was pretty widely played at the time.

Also, I don't like when a catcher's shin guards and chest protector match his uniform, as Washington's Schneider exhibited tonight. I think a bit of contrast looks classier. That gray on gray shit makes him look like Regis.

Fuckabuncha Todd Coffey. Narron should have put in Belisle to start the ninth.

If that happened, Hatteberg's blast would have been a walk-off shot.

I have never seen a good team show such suckitude at home.

Will update later, but Joe Mauer is 5-for-5 tonight.

And has an RBI in the one chance he had with a runner in scoring position.

To be fair, three of those games came at home against the Bucs.
