Yeah, but Jeter did it in a game where they toyed with the Tigers. He's always putting up garbage stats in games that are well out of hand. Let's see him do that in a one-run game. ::)

speaking of garbage stats, it pisses me off every time they put up a stat about joe torre or jeter or mariano rivera having the most wins or saves or postseason something or others.

those stats should all be accompanied with an asterisk to remind people that for the first 68 years of this century there were a maximum of seven postseason games and a 14-game maximum for the next 25 or so years (not counting the strike years).

i don't doubt that jeter will be a hall of famer but his postseason totals are way overrated.

Leo, hurry up and get back in the business. We need another anti-Yankees sportswriter.

Oh, to be naive. The Yankees are winning the World Series. There's not a team in the playoffs that can beat them. Not The Mighty A.L. Central Squads (TM). Not the A's. Not your Dodgeres. Not my Mets. Not the Cards or the Padres.

Morneau just hit one to where Drew Pearson pushed off.

The Twins aren't dead yet: back to back HRs ties it up in the 6th.

And let us remember that when it comes to delivering the knockout punch, Beane's A's have as bad a track record as you're ever going to see. In their four playoff appearances before this, they played nine games with a chance to close out a series - and lost all nine.

And the reason Kotsay could do it? Bartlett didn't fire a strike to second base. He lobbed it (from way too far way), which allowed Kendall to leg out the throw to first and keep the inning alive. If Bartlett fires it, that's probably a double play, no runs scored in the inning.

And to anyone who thinks the Yankees got the World Series won already, we've heard it several times since 2000. It hasn't come to pass yet.

    Wrong stadium.

Unless he hit it into the Mall of America.
