Tigers get past those pesky Royals again, 10-9, with a walk-off HR by Carlos Guillen.

Royals get a 4-0 lead early, fall behind 9-6 but tie it in the eighth with three runs off Zumaya.

Royals can hit the ball fairly well. Their defense is what's let them down the last couple of games. Errors have let the Tigers extend innings and score a couple runs both nights.

Tribe and Twins in extras tied two-two.

I hate that I love this team.

Hunter can send 'em home happy...

Anybody see the lede from AP's Cubs-Mets gamer?

CHICAGO (AP) -- Steve Trachsel worked slowly and the Cubs lost. Must have seemed like old times for longtime faithful at Wrigley Field.

    Classic. Just classic.

    Kip Wells...though I'm sure he'd still nibble.

John Lackey has now thrown 24 scoreless innings in a row.

    AQB --
That might be the best AP lede I've ever seen.

    Kudos to whomever wrote it.

I agree with zeke: Best. Lede. Ever.

Slow does not begin to describe Trachsel.

As for Javier Vazquez with the Mets, HA!!! That guy's a headcase of historic proportions. Such great stuff, such minimal results. The Mets can't be interested in him after getting a crosstown view of how he imploded for the Yankees down the stretch in 2004. But I hope they are.

Jorge Sosa blows two saves in the same ballgame.

    Classic!

I went to the last Mets-Phillies series at the Vet with my best friend. The starters in the second game of the series were Trachsel and Kevin Millwood, on a 90 degree day. Around the fourth inning, I dozed off for two hours, waking up during the sixth inning. I asked my buddy what I missed. "Nothing dude. Absolutely nothing. These fucking guys are taking forever to pitch."
