Pedroia would have to be the shortest MVP in decades, right? Maybe even the modern era. I'm sure a 5-5 guy named Jackrabbit O'Houlihan won the NL MVP back in 1887 or something. But not many MLB players, much less MVP candidates, are 5-7

    Versalles was actually 5-10.

Phil Rizzuto, on the other hand, was 5-6. So was Bobby Shantz. They're the shortest MVPs.
    Joe Morgan was 5-7.
Jimmy Rollins is 5-8. So were Yogi Berra and Roy Campanella.
Terry Pendleton was a media-guided 5-9. Nellie Fox, Eddie Collins and Jimmy Evers also 5-9.

The really amazing thing is he knew exactly where to look for that info...in the old Baseball Encyclopedia. :D

Hey now, I still have one of those. 10th edition MacMillan, only hard copy I've ever owned. Complete with updated stats through 1995. Tom Glavine's WS MVP preserved for posterity. Take that, spnited!!!!!

Haven't cracked it open since 2004, but I'll never get rid of it. One day, there might be a world in which Baseball-Reference.com does not exist. I don't want to live in that world, but if I do ... I'll be ready. :D

Beat the runner by about three steps ... what an "extraordinary" effort. ::)

If I were the Brewers I'd send the dvd of tonight's play to that official scorer ... a copy every day for the next year.
