  1. Time for a new thread.

Looks like Toronto will escape losing 8 in a row. What happened to the Cito Gaston magic?

    Fail.

I had a thread title in mind, too. I was just waiting for it to hit 60.

No fail. Good thread title — it's better than the "my random retired player is more obscure than your random retired player" bullshit.

    Not so fast my friend!

The youth movement continues, this time with Nolan Reimold.

We're about 50 games into the season.

Which division seems strongest right now?

AL East? Remember a few weeks ago the Yanks and Sox were at the bottom of the division?

NL Central? Top 4 are .500 or better, and even 5th-place Pittsburgh lurking.

  8. Player Comparison

Two 33-year old sluggers (one retired and one active)

    Player A - .228 BA / .306 OBP / .361 SLG / .667 OPS
    Player B - .197 BA / .305 OBP / .306 SLG / .611 OPS

It's a sad comparison but I think valid.

  9. I was teeing it up for this very response

    Is Berkman one of them?

    Player B is David Ortiz.

  12. And Player A is Dale Murphy - one time Atlanta icon who was traded away for a box of balls when it was clear he was no longer the slugger he once was.

Just saying but Murphy was just as big in Atlanta as Ortiz is in Boston.
