Gender and racism rears its ugly head again in sport.

The first comment following the girl's story says more than the actual story:

First I would like to say she should be able to play if she meets all the requirements for Baseball Nova Scotia under their minor division rules which I believe no one in the press is stating. The media loves this sort of news and does not always do their homework.
She is considered a non-resident by baseball ns rules if she is vacationing in Brule and would have to play in Halifax where she is from if the Brule team is registered for provincials, no one seems to make this point whether they are or not. Also, if the association had registration , then late registration and she missed them both and showed up at the end of June expecting to play, I don t think this has been reported. Or most people who critize Mr. Tattrie never have been involved in sports or no the RULES!!
But if this is just the case of no girls allowed just because.... and she does meet the requirements, I think its time for Mr. Tattrie to find his new field of dreams.

Girls have been playing Little League in N.S. for decades. I should know. I was one of the first.

One of the regs at the Goose is on the executive of the High Park LL. Says the 12 year old team this year is one of the best he's seen in half a dozen or so.

Last year they didn't make it out of the Regionals.

Cool. I like watching that tournament. Will keep an eye out for your High Park boys.

Well, assuming they make it out of the Regionals again.
