Who was the last pitcher to start the first game of three consecutive World Series?

    Paging Buck Weaver.

    Dave Stewart
    1988-1990, Oakland
    1 win ('89), 1 loss ('90), 1 ND (the Kirk Gibson HR in '88))

    Correct.

Now we will make it harder. Who is the last pitcher to start Game 1 of the World Series, whose team won each series?

Harder to figure the answer or decipher the question?

I'm with you slappy. I have no idea how that is supposed to read.

    But I'm saying Jack Morris.

Yeah, that reads terrible. Shame on me. This pitcher started Game 1 of three consecutive World Series. His team won each World Series.

    (Stewart's team lost in 1988 and 1990).

It was not Jack Morris. Juan Guzman was Toronto's opening-game starter in 1993.

Ken Holtzman did start the first game of the 1972, 73 and 74 Series, and his team won each Series. BUt he isn't the correct answer.

Gullet is correct. Kind of tricky. But all good questions are.

I'm not sure I understand how it was "tricky" enough to rule the first answer, which to my blind eyes, seems to be correct....incorrect.

Because the question was, "the last pitcher."

Gullett did it after Holtzman did.
