Baseball America designer

Baseball America magazine seeks an experienced, organized Page Designer to join their Art Department. We're looking for a talented designer who can create thoughtful layouts, brainstorm ideas, and work closely with writers and editors to create solid visual journalism. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented problem solver who can conceptualize and execute exceptional pages in a fast-paced, team environment. The designer can expect to work on FOB, Features and BOB.

Potential candidates should have a college degree with 2-3 years of editorial design experience at a magazine or newspaper. Strong design and typography skills and proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator are essential. Knowledge of Flash is preferred, but not required.

An interest in baseball is not a requirement, but knowledge of good design is. The ability to multi-task and work with deadlines is critical, and fastidious self-starters are appreciated on our small staff.

Former newspaper sports or feature designers will appreciate our bimonthly deadline, our 9-5 work schedule and our fun, upbeat environment.

This position reports to the Design Director and works closely with the Multimedia Manager to translate the issue to our website.
