He has had a second operation to relieve pressure on the brain.

Wow, this may be an RIP even before I thought it would.

    Yep. Complications. Doesn't sound good:

Hmmm. Imagine that. Ron Sirak writing another excellent column. I think I see the sun in the Eastern sky right now.

Seve's imagination is something the young golfers of today should be emulating. There was none better, as a generation-plus of golfers discovered. The kids would find the game a bit easier to handle after the 335-yard drive they've yanked dead left finds the gunch.

The game needs more players and more personalities like Seve. Hopefully, Anthony Kim will bring some of that passion, flair and game. He certainly has all the elements.

As for Seve, here's hoping he saves the biggest par of his life from behind the clubhouse. The man was simply the greatest Ryder Cup player ever and one of the best personalities the game has known. Period.

    Amen.

Seve's win at St. Andrews in 1984, over a Watson I was rooting so hard for, was the first major I saw on TV.

    I was absolutely hooked.

    Thanks, Seve.

News is not good. It is malignant.

Dagblastit. Not the news I was hoping for.

Hopefully they can get the rest of it out. That story didn't mention long-term prognosis...

Oh dear. Anyone know, Doc maybe, the odds of his survival at this point?

This, at least to me, sounds positive.

I'd be surprised, best case, if he can ever speak again.

This good news is relative. My understanding is that the tumor was being debulked and not removed. This means that while most of it is gone, the rest needs to be attacked by either radiation or chemotherapy. Survival rates depend on the aggressiveness of the tumor and can be as high as 60% at 5 years and 33% at 10 years.

I don't doubt you, DocTalk, but if so then the news stories have been terribly misleading. The ones I've read have said the rest of the tumor was removed.
