The new cafeteria vendor may not be ready to go today so staffers may need to brown-bag it.

    EDIT-1stADD: Buncha pussies.

And you have to admit, this is a stupid thing to be worried about with the way the industry is going.

Maybe I'm a stick in the mud, but I didn't find this thread title very funny. At least not on this board.

Agreed - not the time to crack wise with many of our colleagues out of jobs or fearing they might be soon.
I know you meant no harm at all, you ain't a douche. Please change.

They're better off brown-bagging it anyway.

Most places I've worked, the sports people ignored the cafeteria except for things like coffee, bags of pretzels, etc. Only one paper had a really good cafeteria where most of us ate as a group every night. At other places we relied on takeout, and sometimes it got elaborate. I remember these Flintstones-size ribs from huge mutant swine, messy but good. Funny thing, though -- the desk with the most fatsos on it had the worst food.

Cafeterias are rarely open late for the sports desk. Bastards.

    You people have cafeterias?

They have no such creatures in my part of the world.

We're lucky we have a sinkless kitchen and an "icebox" that's too small for the number of employees who work here.

I worked in several places with pretty good ones -- and one was a bureau (a really big one, granted) that had almost certainly the best of the bunch.

VICTORY! Cafeteria reopens Tuesday with expanded hours -- now until 5 p.m. Yay for nightshift crew.
