In the office, my boss always mentions how dumb it is when Paul says, "In this ever-changing change in which we live in."

Another sacreligious one I read a great rant on was Isaac Hayes' "no one understands him but his woman."

I seem to remember an interview where Elton admitted that Bernie Taupin wrote most of the lyrics but Elton added a verse of his own. I'm betting that's his.

Ever-changing world... Only slightly less bad.

Yes, that's the worst. There are more than 12 words in the English language. Use 'em.

    Also, I think it's '... in this ever-changing world in which we're living ...'

Still a bad lyric, but helps a little.

The bad lyrics thread has 44 posts. The good lyrics thread had 16.

    Coincidence? I think not.

To be fair, my thread had a head start. I would think it will pass this one.

Bono should serve 10 years in prison for penning this. ONE! TWO! THREE! FOURTEEN!

    UNO, dos, tres, quatorze!

    Lights go down it's dark
    The jungle is your head
    Can't rule your heart
    A feeling so much
    Stronger than a thought
Your eyes are wide and though
Your soul it can't be bought
    Your mind can wander

    Hello hello
    (Hola)
I'm at a place called Vertigo
    (Donde esta?)
    It's everything I wish I didn't know
    Except you give me something
    I can feel, feel

The night is full of holes
    As bullets rip the sky
    Of ink with gold
    They twinkle as the
    Boys play rock and roll
They know that they can't dance
    At least they know

    I can't stand the beats
    I'm asking for the check
    The girl with crimson nails
    Has Jesus 'round her neck
    Swinging to the music
    Swinging to the music

    Hello hello
    (Hola)
I'm at a place called Vertigo
    (Donde esta?)
    It's everything I wish I didn't know
    But you give me something
    I can feel, feel

All of this, all of this can be yours
All of this, all of this can be yours
All of this, all of this can be yours
Just give me what I want
    And no one gets hurt

    Hello hello
    (Hola)
We're at a place called Vertigo
    (Donde esta?)
Lights go down and all I know
Is that you give me something

I can feel your love teaching me how
Your love is teaching me how
    How to kneel, kneel

Yea, yea, yea, yea, yea, yea, yea, yea
Yea, yea, yea, yea, yea, yea, yea, yea

Any song specifically for a movie soundtrack, and the lyrics must include character names and plot points.

Take this list, for example: http://www.toplessrobot.com/2008/04/the_11_most_awful_songs_from_geek_movie_soundtrack.php

We've only just begun ... to scratch the surface of bad lyrics.

One that just popped into my head ... some solo Mick Jagger, from sometime in the mid-1980s, when "classic rock" formats were taking off and you heard these words about every 40 minutes:

"Bettin' on the filly, down at the track, (c'mon filly, c'mon babe),
    A natural-born winner, that's a fact.
100 yards from the winning post,
Horse fell down, must have seen a ghost."

I believe the song is called "Lucky at Love."

And let's face it, we could list just about every Loverboy song here ... I'll admit, I won't change the channel. They're bad, but they're no Nickelback.

A quick gem from our 1980s hitmakers from the North:

"I'm not man, or machine ... must be something, in between! (Whoa-oa, whoa-oa-oa)"

Definitely belongs. Written by Mutt Lange, who belongs in that Diane Warren-ish circle of hell.
