    Don't do anything unless it stops hurting. I learned a long time ago that if you think you're tough and want to work through the pain, you'll end up with a lifetime of it.

    Rest, then do beginning yoga.

    Thanks. The ripping sensation I felt was in the heart of the calf. The rest of the leg, including Achilles, feels fine. I can walk. Today the calf is more tight than anything. I didn't go to the gym. But I'm already feeling squishy about not working out. It had been about 10 days since my last day off, so I needed the rest. I haven't iced my calf yet, though it's probably too late, right?

    Healing Back Pain : The Mind-Body Connecti by John Sarno is a really helpful book. I know quite a few people it's helped. Worth checking out.
