Bad Athlete Commercials

I was in Atlanta last week and several times heard a radio ad for a housing contrator done by Ron Gant, former Braves star. And in case I didn't know who he was, he read his bio as part of the ad. It was very strange, but funny at the same time. I wanted to find Gant and ask who the hell was his p.r. firm because they weren't worth anything.

My question to SportsJournalists.com land is what are some of the worst sports whoring you have heard and/or seen?

 

Well, let's get the McGriff for Eumanski pitch in this thread early....

 

Mike Scioscia and Howie Kendrick do commercials for Howard's, a big screen TV place in SoCal.

I don't know what's worst, the writing or the acting.

This isn't with Kendrick, but another bad one:

 

An all-time champ for bad ads. Humiliating in every way.

 

Here's Kendrick:

 

Penguins Hat Trick, Colby Armstrong, Maxime Talbot and Malkin in a local car dealer commercial.

 

I'm sure Phil Esposito sold a boatload of product for Sasson:

 

Scioscia is the beat actor in those commercials ... but I wouldn't expect BYH to agree.

 

Pete Rose had some great bad Aqua Velva commercials, including this one:

 

Jonathan Papelbon and cars. Not a great mix.

And, to make it even better, there's four commercials rolled into one!

 

Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson has something to say about this. And that something is Ortega's sauce makes her taco pop! And if you take her word for it, her taco is the best.
As a bonus, there's poorly-read spiels from Paul and Morgan Hamm in the same commercial.

 

Cut that meat!
