    So, working the math here: Top 8 qualify and four picks? Or does the team grow?

    Still 12.
    And the points are only earned in the majors in 2007, then each PGA Tour event in 2008 with majors doubled.
    I like the changes. It won't change the outcome, but might make it 16-12 or 15-13 instead of 18 1/2 - 9 1/2

    I'm not a golf expert, but I don't know about the changes.

    In the first place, the idea is to finish in the top 10 and try to win a golf tournament. A whole bunch of 12th-place finishes with a lot money - that wouldn't seem to be the best player for a team competition. Also, tournaments like the Masters and British Open would have smaller numbers of US players involved, so a lot of players wouldn't have a chance.

    Also, the increase in the number of spots picked by the captain seems to cut down on the merit factor.

    Something doesn't seem right to me.
