Meh. I can't imagine anyone feeling passionately one way or the other about that movie. I mean, it's fine.

Had the best action sequence, maybe of any movie ever.

And it was better than T2.

Which puts it leagues ahead of the motherfucking Blair Witch Project.

    As a film, I wouldn't disagree.

As a pop culture thing, I could argue for Blair Witch.

Great, so make a list of the 50 Best Pop Culture Phenomena of the '90s.

As a film, it was schlocky ass. I've seen scarier things in my toilet after a 30-pack of Stones.

Also, too, for whatever it is worth, there is a cult following surrounding Starship Troopers that rivals anything this side of Lebowski.

I don't claim to understand it. But it is out there.

    Fuck it.

Like all lists, the AV Club has successfully trolled most of us. I'm done.

    Brutal Omissions:

    Silence of the Lambs
    American Beauty
    American History X
    Good Will Hunting
    Shawshank
    Usual Suspects
    Leaving Las Vegas

    Puzzling Inclusions

    Carlito's Way
T2 (assume included as an event/historical significance)
    Blair Witch(Ibid)
    The Matrix (Ibid)
    Thin Red Line
Eyes Wide Shut (assume included as tribute to departed great director)

Can't argue this, except American Beauty, which was extremely overrated

Decidedly Un-Hipster Addition From Guy Who Only Plays A Hipster On A Message Board:

    Tombstone.

    Braveheart.
    Shawshank.
    Saving Private Ryan.
    Apollo 13.

But, hey, at least they were able to leave off those four and include a dozen movies no one has ever heard of.
