    STATEMENT OF THE JOB: Will perform normal copy editing duties on sports copy desk.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
    EDUCATION: College degree

    EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING: Headline writing, copy editing, and layout and design experience.

    MANUAL OR MOTOR (MACHINE) OPERATIONS: Pagination experience required.

    OTHER: Knowledge of Associated Press stylebook and excellent knowledge of grammar.

    JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
     Edit local and wire sports stories.
     Write headlines for stories.
     Write photo captions.
     Design and layout sports pages.
     Keep up with local and national sports scene, and contribute to story ideas.

    WORKING CONDITIONS: Work will be performed in newsroom environment with tight deadlines. Night, weekend and holiday hours required.
