From a press release for Chris Cornell's new album:

Cornell is permanently departing super-group Audioslave stating, "Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors.

Hmmm...Rage Against the Machine are getting back together for a big festival. Mr. Cornell needs to call up the other dudes from Soundgarden and start rocking again.

If they can get Matt Cameron to quit drumming for Pearl Jam, they might have a shot.

This isn't the first time Audioslave broke up. They were originally called The Civilian Project and were supposed to be the act right b4 Ozzy on Ozzfest in 2001. They broke up just b4 the tour kicked off. Cornell is an amazing talent, but he's a headcase. Kind of like Billy Corgan, but not as creepy looking.

I don't see that happening. Although Pearl Jam has had 47 drummers.

I think Cameron has lasted the longest, hasn't he?

He has. They've made three albums with him. He finally gets to play music he created.

Man, this means more Cornell solo stuff. Guy's one of the best frontmen of his generation, but his solo work sucks.

Rolling Stone has a piece on RATM, Smashing PUmpkins, DAvid L Roth/Vhalen and the Police reuniting.
