    This is true. I've learned during the past few months that my situation is enviable compared to many.

    I'm sure football in Texas is great, that's what I keep hearing from people I know out there

    On the whole, yes. Top state for depth of talent simply because of numbers. From an individual standpoint, just depends. You can get stuck covering a stinker, just like anywhere else. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

    Perennially Overrated feels my pain. ;)

    The position has been offered to, and accepted by, Andrew Gribble. Good kid. Recent Ohio University graduate. Interned with MLB.com and, I think, The Birmingham News. A smart, sharp hire. Keep an eye on him.

    Gribble's a good kid and a pretty solid writer who will work hard. Good choice -- two thumbs up...
