Just as Alabama painted itself into a corner by building statues of its national championship-winning coaches (and thus had to erect one of Nick Saban), so has Auburn done when they decided last year to erect statues of Heisman Trophy winners Pat Sullivan and Bo Jackson. They're now building one of Cam Newton as well ...

I guess if you want to buy someone's silence when it comes to the NCAA, erecting a statue of them is probably a good way to do that ...

No biggie. They will need something to take their anger out on when the sanctions come down.

so when he has to give back his Heisman, will Auburn then take the statue down?

Build it of Papier-mâché. I'd like to know how many credits you have to earn to get a Statute at Auburn?

Does he have a stolen laptop in one hand and $200K in the other?

Florida started this bullshit with its Tebow statue.

Yep, the whole thing is silly. Administrators try to sell this image of the student-athlete, then go erect statues of guys??

Unlike the last time - I figure the low bid wins.

Well, we know what'll happen should Auburn ever have to vacate its championship...

It's going to be quite an erection.

It would be nice if schools required someone to earn a degree before building a statue. A plaque honoring the entire team? No problem. But what ever happened to perspective. Now a guy retires one minute and the next minute people are ready to vote up or down for the Hall of Fame.
