Here's a great opportunity to work in the SEC!

AuburnUndercover.com, the 247Sports.com affiliate covering Auburn, has an immediate opening for a sports reporter to cover Auburn athletics. The position’s main task will be football but responsibilities will also include basketball, baseball, etc.

The successful candidate will understand the demands of a 24/7/365 web-based work environment and have the proven skill to thrive in all aspects of digital journalism. The candidate will take ownership of the beat with the ability to handle every side of news – game stories, enterprise, features, notebooks, opinion columns and breaking news.

Being active on the AuburnUndercover.com message boards and being available to answer subscriber questions in the forums is a very important aspect of this position.

The position is based in Auburn, Ala.

Please e-mail a resume, cover letter, 5-6 clips to Ron Sanders at rsanders@247sports.com.
    Salary commensurate with experience.

NOTE: This is not a recruiting writer position; AuburnUndercover.com has a full-time recruiting analyst on staff. However, the successful candidate will regularly assist with recruiting coverage - especially during peak times in the recruiting cycle.

    Minimum qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field is strongly preferred.
Experience: At least two (2) years of full-time experience at a daily newspaper or sports website. High school or college beat experience is strongly preferred but not required.

To be an ideal fit for this job, you will have:

    - Demonstrated excellent reporting and writing skills at a daily newspaper or sports website.

    - A working knowledge of college football, basketball and baseball. Knowledge of Auburn and/or SEC sports is a plus.

    - Experience with game coverage, features, enterprise, opinion columns, explanatory and breaking news.

    - Proven ability to turn around strong, clean copy in a deadline setting.

    - The drive, communication skills and self-starting ability to work remotely.

    - Schedule flexibility to compete in a 24/7/365 work environment.

    - The ability to conceive and execute unique story ideas from start to finish.

    - Working knowledge of social media to engage readers and promote content.

    - Experience with online-based research.

    - The ability to engage subscribers on AuburnUndercover.com’s message boards.

    - The ability to update and monitor the 247Sports database and Auburn sports schedules and rosters with up to date information.

Any idea on salary for something like this? High-profile team with good subscriber base, 247 now working with CBS. Curious ...

Does this involve scrubbing Phillip Marshall's yellowteef on a daily basis?

    Salary commensurate with experience.

  5. So around $30K at best? Is it a 1099 position or is the writer an employee of 247 Sports?

Why all the turnover on the Auburn beat? It seems like each major outlet has hired someone new recently.

I've been wondering too ... is it the Farmington of the South?

I have to assume the Auburn site is backed by 247 in terms of funding versus the publisher trying to make ends meet by generating all of its income from subscribers. I still try to be loyal from my time at Rivals, but 247 is quickly becoming my go-to when it comes to recruiting databases. Its player profile pages are the best around, IMO. Doing it right there.
