That wasn't my implication at all. If you go back and look at my first post, the point I was trying to make was that there are stupid people on all ends of the ideological spectrum.

Now, we could have a long conversation about how one party has spent 40 years beating people over the head with a "media bias" argument that leads a certain segment of the population to trust email forwards or radio talk show hosts more than credible sources of information, but it would be extrapolation on my part and not at all what my original point was.

And, for the record, the girl's grandpa is a really, really intelligent guy. Also a bit of a bigot and not a terribly nice person to be around for folks he doesn't like. But, for some reason, he has taken a shine to me.

I won't speak for Zeke, but I'm pretty sure that conversation was completely separate from Cranium's concerns. He was just telling a conversation about the e-mails, not the Obama deal.

That's just how I took it. I could be wrong.

  3. Understood. But the "media bias" stuff isn't made up out of thin air, either. Media can be biased and e-mails can be idiotic -- the two aren't mutually exclusive.

But it's good to see you and Grandpa get along well, despite your political differences and in spite of his borderline bigotry. Heck, one of my best friends is a hard-core socialist. (OK, let's all hold hands and sing "Kumbaya.") :)

  4. Checks and balances haven't done much to hold the Bush administration back ...

So I can't blame Bush, but I can blame the people who voted for him?

  5. Could very well be. I could be wrong, too, or just overly sensitive to that sort of thing.

No, they aren't mutually exclusive. But the flogging of "bias" as a political issue leads to cynicism rather than criticism. The cynicism leads to a complete lack of source evaluation. And that lack leads otherwise sane people to give undue weight to shit that gets fed them through email, talk radio and BLOGS!

And the Obama smear emails are too numerous and stupid to mention. And I am in no way convinced that they all originate from folks on your end of the political spectrum.

  7. I would be willing to bet that the majority is coming from Hillary's camp.

Unless you want a hip, imaginary black friend, then, yes.

    Be very afraid.

  10. Yes, because, unlike the Republican party and the conservative movement, the Clintons have been notable in their race-baiting.
Of course, since the Obama folks seem intent on raising the level of civility by calling 30-odd percent of the NH voters closet racist, I despair for the tone of our politics.

Where have you gone, Sister Souljah, a nation turns its lonely eyes to you, ooh-ooh-ooh...

    Ooh-ooh-ooh.

  12. Yeah, that was a real shame there, and one of the reasons I was never really sold on the guy. And if you're willing to concede that's what The Great Uniter's campaign is up to right now in reverse, going into SC, we have nothing further to discuss.
Bill Clinton used an obscure rapper to make points to white people.
Barack Obama says Joe Lieberman's one of his mentors.
    New politics, my eye.
