Jalen Rose puts up a billboard to honor HIMSELF and the rest of the Fab Five.

Gee, I wonder who brings it up, huh??? The Fab Five was 15 years ago. NOBODY sits around talking about the Fab Five.

Uhh, yeah, because a) you NEVER WON ANY BANNERS, and b) what minor meaningless successes you DID have have all been expunged from the record books as penalties for one of the most egregrious cheating scandals in the history of college sports.

What do you expect from a Michigan drop out?

Let's make sure Ivan Rodriguez is in the mix, too.

Pudge commissioned a statue of himself and put it outside his house. Perfect for entertaining!

From a Detroit Free Press story in 2004:

Much has been made about Rodriguez's lavish lifestyle -- of his nine-bedroom Miami Beach mansion and its 11 bathrooms. Of the boats he owns, including a 118-foot yacht. Of the one-ton bronze statue he commissioned of himself, in a Texas uniform, that stands tall in his backyard.

"The guy who made it is from Colombia," Rodriguez said with a smile. "It took him a year. We gave him an 8-by-10, something like that, and he did a very nice job."

Yet, in a remarkable twist of fate, Jalen Rose -- the Fab Fiver most likely to be the one in trouble -- has been remarkably successful in the pros while proving to be the one who didn't take the cash.

    Wrong on both counts:

    a) he did take the cash:

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/basketball/men/stories/2002-05-30-rose-booster.htm

"A pair of gym shoes" runs well over $100 (and did even when Rose was in high school), and "a fresh outfit" runs a couple hundred bucks no problem. Quite clearly Ed Martin was handing Rose handouts of several hundred bucks at a time pretty steadily from the time he was in high school. Multiply that a couple times a month by 5-6 years, you end up with some serious cash -- five figures real easy (That doesn't even get into apartments, stereo gear, food, and cars in college).

and b), his pro career has hardly been "remarkably successful" -- he's been dumped like a blistering case of crab lice by every single team he's been on the roster of during his career (he had one stretch of about a season and a half under Larry Bird when he was reasonably successful, once Bird left he returned to his primmadonna ballhog bullshit). As, for that matter, so have Howard and Webber. Acquiring these guys always seems like a good idea; after they've been on your roster a little while, the burning itch in the groin region always returns pretty quickly.

Anyone else find it weird that Starman started a thread about attention whores?

Pudge has something the Fab Frauds never had ... a championship.
