Russia Today reports a Russian air defense unit blew up the meteorite at an altitude of 20 km.

Might be decades before it returned the wealth, so maybe it's something you do for your grandchildren on a lottery-type lark, but I'd throw in some cash to invest in asteroid mining.

Before I clicked the link I was thinking they used a laser beam.

 

LOL ... a meteorite's doing something on the order of Mach 25.

Where in that link does it say they blew it up?
There was an explosion, but I didn't see where the Russians claimed it was because they blew it up.
