This was a fun way to flip the "Best of..." lists that dominate the web at this time of year.

A lot of these are political, but pretty much all are worthy of the scorn they receive.

Before I click on the link, is Peggy Noonan's "yard signs!" on there?

The only thing I saw by her was one about CSI and one about victory vibes.

The descriptions of those 50 are enough for me to know that I don't care to read many of the actual articles.

Ah, sometimes the worst articles are the best ones to read. I read Mark Whicker's Jaycee Dugard column at least five times trying to figure out what the hell he was thinking.

Speaking of which ... my memory is hazy, but wasn't there a sports column out there this year that was thought to be, not Whicker-level bad, but in the next tier?

In general, yes, this is true. But the first few were racist-related and based upon the descriptions, I simply cannot give the writer of those my time.

The list does have four sports columns, one of them being Mushnick's "New York N---ers" column that elicited a bit of discussion on this board.

Hmmmm ... sadly enough, I don't think that's what I'm thinking of, although the headline would suggest it's in the running.

Damn. I have a boring-ass government bid to write or I'd go searching far and wide for this.

David Whitley's Colin Kapernick column seems to be missing from the list.

That's the one I thought of when I read LTL's question.

Obviously the nerds at the Atlantic (and I say that with love) aren't going to be reading many sports columns.

Feel free to put together your own sports-centric list, if you're so cruelly inclined.

    Worst sports columns:

1-20: Rick Reilly something or other
21-36: Jason Whitlock writing about stuff
37-45: Bill Plaschke tries to write about baseball
    46: Whitley on Kaepernick
    47: Bob Kravitz. Pick one.
    48-50: Doug Krikori . . . oh, that's right. he's out of the business. That's rather nice.

The victory vibrations and law signs columns are one and the same.
