This is weird. This is freaky. BYU-Idaho president sees a great crisis in pornography and the masturbatory habits going on. Using images of young men watching laptop screens spliced with images made to look like actual war, he says, "The young man is spiritually wounded on the battlefield of the great war."

There is also a "social stigma against people who speak up in the face of evil. The enemy whispers, 'Don't get involved. It's not your problem. Don't tell, you'll be a tattletale.'"

While visiting Ohio University with my son last weekend for a prospective student tour, we took our own self-guided tour of the Ridges, the old Athens Lunatic Asylum on the top of a big hill overlooking campus, now converted (mostly) into university use. One thing we found in our research is that in the early days of the asylum, post-Civil War, many were put there for the crazy crime of masturbation. I wonder if the BYU-Idaho guy's great-great-great-grandfather was the head of the asylum.
