    I'm not sure how the PD does it, but at the paper I worked at in Ohio, reporters indeeded were responsible for entering their own stuff, or choosing not to do so. That might explain how some sportswriters we feel deserve mention are not among the winners.

    It's like the lottery, albeit with better odds. Can't win if you don't play.
