Barry University, an NCAA Division II / Sunshine State Conference member, invites applications for the position of Assistant Sports Information Director. Barry University, a Catholic international university, is located in Miami Shores, FL on a 122-acre campus. The university was founded in 1940 and is an independent, coeducational institution that is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and awards bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. This is a full-time, 12-month position. Responsibilities include assisting the SID with writing, designing and editing athletic publications; game management of all home events; maintaining liaison with the Sunshine State Conference, NCAA office and other associations; training and supervision of student staff for public address and statistics; writing releases, post-game reports and other media documents to publicize Barry University athletics; maintaining contact with local, regional and national media; assisting with the development of the ICA web site, the sports banquet video, annual report and other special event projects. Bachelor’s degree minimum/Master’s preferred. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. An assistant SID at a private D-II school in a non-college town with no football ... can't make more than 25K, I would guess. And where does that go in 10 years, for a mid-career, educated employee? This is a legitimate path outside the newspaper world?
