Assistant sports editor, Los Angeles Times

Discussion in 'Journalism Jobs' started by danielpaulling, Dec 10, 2018.

  1. The Los Angeles Times is looking for an assistant Sports editor to join its award-winning staff.

This editor will direct our Major League Baseball coverage and work with our reporters and columnists to ensure we are providing the best storytelling across our multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will coordinate the coverage of our two local teams – the Dodgers and the Angels – as well as our expanded national and business coverage of Major League Baseball.

This editor will also work across the newsroom to help create graphics, videos, interactives and podcasts and understand what our audience is looking for in both print and digital. The duties will range from editing a quick breaking news item to our longer enterprise reporting. This is a leadership role and will work with other editors within the Los Angeles Times Sports department to ensure the quality of our daily report.

This position is included in the Los Angeles Times Guild.

Candidates must have 10 or more years of experience working in sports journalism with a deep understanding of professional sports. Qualified candidates should send a resume and applicable work samples to assistant managing editor Angel Rodriguez at angel.rodriguez@latimes.com.
