    Cheap is in.

  2. The funniest thing about this board is that people complain when you don't post a salarly and then complain when you do. This is why we can't have nice things.

Don't expect applause with a salary range like that in an SEC college town.

  4. I never asked for applause. I guess I was just naive enough to assume people wouldn't complain about a job they didn't apply for.

I hear ya, Monster. No win situation there. I have no doubt you'll get someone well qualified.

Salary observations are to be expected. Especially after what the industry has been through. I'm not complaining about a job I'm not applying for anyway. But that salary range probably limits the talent search.

The management is doubtless aware of the limitations imposed by the salary range and has made the value judgment that that's what it's willing to pay for. Not that they'll say it in that many words, of course.

That salary range is about what I was making at the ABH as a UGA olympic sports/GA reporter eight years ago. Of course the business has taken a giant dump since then.

Definitely for the best to include that salary expectation in there so nobody applies thinking they're going to make $40K. Saves everyone a bunch of time and trouble.

What's not good is the salary appears to be sliding. We never got 100 percent specific, but when I interviewed with Tex for this job several years ago, I was led to believe it paid mid-30s.

Had a couple friends who worked here for several years and I don't think either ever got $30K.

I could be mistaken (it was a while ago), but 30K or less would have been a significant pay cut for me. I don't think that was the situation.
