Seeking assistant managing editor for New Braunfels (TX) Herald-Zeitung. The number two position in the newsroom at a 9,800 six-day-a-week newspaper in the Hill Country of Texas. Knowledge of AP style, strong line-editing, headline writing and page design skills are required. The ideal candidate will have a reporting background. Preference will be given to candidates with strong knowledge of sports. This is an evening shift, responsible for putting the paper to bed. Highly competitive market and a great place to live. Web knowledge/skills a plus because of uploading responsibilities. Competitive pay, good benefits with a very solid Texas-based newspaper company. Immediate opening. Send cover letter, resume, writing and design samples to managing editor Autumn Phillips at aphillips@herald-zeitung.com.

You can message me for any details on the job.

The town is pleasant, in between Austin and San Antonio with its well-known water park, but this gig won't pay much and likely will be a design-and-edit-the-paper-at-night gig.

And if you like tubing or beer, they have plenty of both in the area.

A very good part of Texas. But sounds like the job consists of you doing all the work while the ME drinks coffee, tells stories and surfs the innertubes.
