    Assistant Sports Editor
    The Times Leader, a daily newspaper located in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., is looking for a motivated, enterprising, creative journalist to work as the assistant sports editor. Our eight-person sports staff covers three professional sports teams, Triple-A baseball, AHL hockey and arena football, Penn State football, several NASCAR races, five local colleges, and more than 20 high schools.

    We’re looking for a versatile person who can oversee the night side operation of the sports department. The assistant sports editor will also work with the sports editor in planning daily coverage and Sunday enterprise packages.

    Other job duties include copy editing, assisting with the production of original online content, and occasional writing. The successful candidate must be willing to work nights and weekends.

    We’re looking for a person with excellent news and editing skills, knowledge of AP style, at least five years of daily newspaper experience, including preferably management experience, and the ability to think on your feet under strict deadline pressure. Previous design experience is a plus.
