    I'm told Newport News had a somewhat sudden meeting today. Fifteen newsroom cuts in the next two weeks.
    If anyone knows more - or if this is not correct, though I'd lay money on it - please post or PM.

    AND, this just sent to me. The editorial comment at the end is from the sender and not me but I agree:

    Nine more editorial (Guild) layoffs at the Mercury News by Friday, unless someone wants to volunteer to leave. In this case, volunteering means walking out with no compensation package whatsoever.

    Fucking brutal out there, brother.

    The Palm Beach Post got hit very hard, almost a quarter of their employees are being shown the door. Good time to invest in a bakery.

    Well, Newport News is a Trib property, so this appears to be part of Zell's handiwork. Still, doesn't excuse it.

    Someone pour a bourbon and branch for me. A tall one. Ick.
