LITTLE ROCK (AP) -- The chairman of the Arkansas Democratic Party is hospitalized in critical condition after an incident at the party headquarters, according to a party executive.

A television station is reporting that three shots were fired and that a man escaped the area in a blue truck.

The director of the Arkansas Democratic Party says that party chairman Bill Gwatney has been taken to the hospital. He didn't say how Gwatney was injured.

A sales clerk at a flower shop across street from the party headquarters said that around noon, Gwatney's secretary ran into the shop and asked someone to call 911. She said a man had come into the party headquarters and shot Gwatney multiple times.

Police say they've apprehended a suspect.

I'm starting to wonder if the 2nd Amendment should apply to Republicans.

Perhaps you should make sure he's an actual Republican before you go shooting off your keyboard.

It's Arkansas. It just as easily could have been a Clinton. Guy probably supported Obama. :)

Witty comeback and all, but this is the second time within a month that a right-wing nutjob has actually committed politically-motivated gun violence against innocent people.

So you've got a link that says it was definitely a "right-wing nutjjob" and not, say, a jilted lover or a business partner done wrong or someone trying to impress Drew Barrymore?

No word on being a nutjob, but the guy who did the shooting, was shot himself after a lengthy pursuit.
The word is that he went into one office, complaining about how he had lost his job that day. Went running out of the office when they secretary said she was going to call the police.
Went down the street and stopped at maybe one other place before going into the Democratic Party headquarters.
Gwatney, the scion of wealthy car dealing family, is a former legislator and he is not expected to survive the day.
To assign terms like nutjob, or to say it was politically motivated is incredibly stupid.
By all appearances, it is more like Falling Down. If anyone remembers that movie.

spinning has taken over as the board's biggest douchebag. hondo may be a distant second.

jay, that's sad. hope he doesn't experience too much more pain, if that is the final outcome.
