    That's not stereotyping, at all.

Guess we should be thankful they didn’t call her Urethra Franklin.

That post links to a Tweet I won't post out of respect for Aretha Franklin.

    Ari Shaffir is very funny.

Going to Aretha Franklin's funeral? Might want to pack a lunch.
    And dinner.
And maybe breakfast for the next morning.

What's the record for longest span between death and funeral?

That article is a very amusing read, BTW.

while the service is already scheduled to be as long as the Easter Sunday service at a southern Baptist church with a new pastor trying to prove himself (9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.), I’d bet good money that it will last at least 12 hours. And I’m not even being facetious.

Chaka Khan has 5 minutes? She has runs longer than 5 minutes. On accident. Ask Rufus.

It's not that unusual for there to be a long gap with black people. I'm not sure if it's a practical thing, like lots of people having to come in from out of town, or just a traditional cultural thing that goes way back. I work in an area with a large black population and I've seen services scheduled two or three weeks after the death.
Black funerals are also famous for lasting for-EVER. Lots of music, lots of dramatic speeches and sermons. Somebody's aunt usually falls out, either from emotion or heatstroke, somewhere around the 90-minute mark. If Aretha Franklin's funeral is scheduled for what looks like a tightly-scripted 5 1/2 hours, you can bet your ass it's going at least 8.

I have seen that Ms. Franklin is wearing a different outfit with each posthumous viewing or “show”.

The image of one person holding her up and the other changing dresses; two weeks after her death, is a bit morbid.

Imagine when Diana Ross passes and the costume changes.
