Or cooking oil or flour? Because it seems we're all going to be facing shortages soon.

Some stores are already rationing sales of those items ...

Great. I gave all my stocked up rice to the food bank.

I am stocked up (for me) on cooking oil and flour though. Scary times though, scary times.

I gather the saying 'not for all the rice in China' no longer applies ...

Ladies and gentlemen, for some of you this may be serious stuff. The price of you Bud is about to go up. You might have to switch to drinking beer rather than rice/sugar water that holds a head.

It's a good time to be an Arkansas rice farmer.

Have seen this coming for a while, as rice prices worldwide have risen and in some poor countries, the lines for government supplemented rice have come to include working people, not just the jobless and indigent. Rice production has actually remained pretty steady. It is that the population has increased by about 100 million mouths to feed over the last four to five years.

The thought of rationing is distressing, because of just how much rice I eat. I eat a ton of brown rice -- I eat it at least five days a week.

Looks like the people who stocked up on canned goods and bicycles back in 1999 were simply ahead of their time.

Nothing soaks up the moisture better than rice.
