Are you smarter than Mrs. B's students?

  1. My plan is to get you drunk enough to discuss Shay's Rebellion.

Sweetheart, if you get me drunk enough, we won't be talking about Shay's Rebellion.

A true Louisiana purchase. Thank you, sir. May I have another?

You'd be surprised what passes for pillow talk 'round these parts ... no wait, I take that back ... ;)

You and Mr. Bastard have pillow talk often, buckdub?

Never about Shay's Rebellion. That's only between you and him. ;)

It's OK. I could debate the ramifications of a barter economy in Western Massachusetts with him all night.

Sorry, PR. As Mrs. Birdscribe just said... "I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried."

And IJAG, nobody's asking you to analyze the concept of vigilantism as a form of social control in mining camps (as Mrs. Birdscribe did for 253 glorious pages on her Masters thesis). But you're certainly smart enough to realize that Sherman was the architect of the March to the Sea and that Abe Lincoln wasn't killed at the Battle of Chancellorsville.

You're smart enough to know that if your professor asks you to watch a historical movie off a list that you're not going to analyze "Napoleon Dynamite" and try passing it off as history. ::)

It's not brain surgery. It's stuff that Americans SHOULD know. Period.

Besides, the Shay's Rebellion comment gives you away. :D

    A) I have no idea what the March to the Sea is, or anything about Sherman.

B.) I know Lincoln wasn't killed there, but I couldn't tell you who was.

C.) NO BLOWING MY COVER WITH FENIAN! (it came from wikipedia)

  10. See, IJAG, you can't appreciate Gone With the Wind, one of the greatest films ever made, if you don't know about Sherman burning a path all the way to the ocean.

  11. I should have added the phrase "war is hell" comes from Sherman.
