10,990 is the right answer (and yes, I know I'm repeating myself on this thread).

I don't know why I couldn't get it before and why I can't get it again. Now I'm only getting 9,618.

 

You forgot to add back in the 343 big cats. You multiplied 7 girls x 7 backpacks x 7 big cats x 7 small cats x 4 legs + 14 legs for the girls + 2 legs for the driver = 9,620. Add the 343x4 legs for the big cats and you're golden.

I couldn't figure it out in my head so I got some real cats. They just wouldn't fit like they were supposed to with their legs on.

I figured it was a trick question. I mean, why mention legs and not heads or ears? Fify-six live cats definitely didn't fit in the backpack.

I'm pissed I got it wrong. It's gonna take me all day to clean the blender.
