Are the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Daily News Seperate Editorial Products?

I was in Philly for a couple of days. The Daily News and the Inquirer were running the same bylines in sports. Is the Daily News just a tabloid version of the Inquirer with the same editorial content? I had always thought there were separate staffs.

They merged the staffs a few years back. Not sure how extensively they share content, haven’t picked up either one in forever.

The staffs are merged and content is shared.
