It's interesting to me how history lets us see the broad ebb and flow that moved civilizations, but we tend to be very status quo biased about the present.

We can say that the Podunk Empire defeated its rivals in a crucial battle because the weather was cloudy that day and that spooked the Rival Empire's horses or something. It seemed like a great boon for Podunk, but the assistant general who rose to prominence because of the victory was a poor statesman. His bungling of the resulting land grants from the victory created a class civil war 60 years later that would respark a few times and eventually leave the empire too weak to deal with an outside threat.

But America won WWII and the Cold War because God wanted us to and now we led the world out of the dark ages and into the light of capitalist liberal democracy forever the end.

I suspect that much like that assistant general and land grants, future historians might be as interested in the baby boomer voting bloc as they are in who won the Cold War.

It's people like you with your snide remarks who cost Podunk Empire a shot at immortality.... and a scholarship.

It’s not the fault of baby boomers that they turned out how they did. They were the first generation of young Americans raised with expendable cash and ready access to college educations. The people to blame are their parents. If they’d just lost the war and not come home to hump, shit would have been broken already.

But they’re "The Greatest Generation." Tom Brokaw said so in between rounds of sexually harassing people.

Boomers lost the Peace, their parents and grandparents won the war. As you alluded to boomers had the luxury of immediate gratification. Most of them, however, did realize this and did become hard workers but there are so many that the minority who never matured really overwhelmed society
