This year's meetings and contest judging are about to begin in Orlando. Obviously a lot of people will be keen in learning the winners, but hopefully some of the people attending will post other things of interest as well.

Just a shout out to The Buffalo News sports section, which seems to go under the radar but keeps churning out APSE awards.

Even more impressive this year, considering they lost their lead sports designer to the P-D and reshuffled part of their writing lineup.

(I'm biased, of course. Got a lot of friends there, and I'm proud of their work.)

Looks like Buffalo is 3/4 of the way to a grand slam, even if they did lose a designer who was good enough for the Plain-Dealer? Post-Dispatch? Podunk-Daily?

We always say congrats to the winners, but special thanks to the judges who have taken five days out of their lives to do this. Honestly, I don't know how they get through everything in time.

As a judge, I wonder that, too! But we do. It really is a good, dedicated group and it is always nice to see how much quality work is being done around the country.

    Thanks for that comment Marvin.
